Character Name: Luna Lovegood
OC or Fandom: Fandom: Harry Potter
Age: 17
X where applicable:
New Trainer {} Seasoned Trainer {X} RTF {} Team Rocket {} Gym Leader {} Elite Four {}
Region and Town of Origin: Sinnoh: Celestic Town
Character Personality:
Luna is a girl with a vague, dreamy demeanor, giving off the false impression that she doesn’t pay attention to things. She does, in fact, pay very much attention, so long as it’s interesting, which is quite a lot, in her book. She can also be very stubborn—open to new ideas, so long as they don’t directly contradict her old ones, and very naïve in situations she’s not used to, trusting the expertise of anyone who says they’re an expert. She will become very cold if you make unpleasant remarks about her father, but otherwise takes any insults aimed at herself with cheerful nonchalance.
Luna views Pokemon as companions—very fascinating companions. She rarely catches them, so she doesn’t have very many in her PC box, partially due to her interest in strange or ignored Pokemon and disinterest in the ordinary or common. The ones she travels with are her closest and in truth only friends aside from her father, and she is very protective of them, adopting a battling style that’s based more on strategy than pure power to avoid unnecessary injuries. She believes in pretty much all of the legendary Pokemon you’ve heard of and many you haven’t.
Character History:
Luna was born in Celestic Town, where her parents, both traveling Researchers, had stopped temporarily. Partially this was so Luna’s mother could give birth, but mostly they wanted to read up on the legends of Sinnoh for their studies. They were both highly interested in the obscure, some say nonexistent Pokemon of the world. To this day Luna’s father (and by extension, Luna) are still on the lookout for the much-derided existence of the Missingno.
They stayed there long for Luna to reach a travel appropriate age (catching a Mime Jr. while they were there precisely for Luna’s companionship and protection) and then continued searching the globe for evidence of the strange and disbelieved. After Luna’s mother died in an unfortunate accident, Luna and her father grew very close, and aside from Loony, as her eventual Mr. Mime soon became known, he was her only friend.
When she turned ten she left with her father’s blessing on her own Pokemon journey, going slowly and in no real hurry or direction. It took her several years to finish the Sinnoh circuit, but less because of a lack of skill and more because she didn’t have a real plan in mind. She just liked the journey. She then went on to leisurely wander Hoenn, but left before challenging more than a few of the gyms, her interest peaked by Bohren. There was no such thing as a Region with no native Pokemon, so surely they just hadn’t been found yet.
She is used to traveling alone for the most part, the only human traveling companions she’s had usually leaving quite quickly when they can’t grow used to her strange demeanor and devout belief in the most unbelievable things. She also often ends up being the one to leave them, should they find her picking up her father’s latest publication and wrongfully assume she reads it for the hilarity of the claims.
Luna’s battling style is interesting in that she’ll often appear to not be paying attention, dreamily staring into space, and will shout out what may seem as nonsense for commands, but has trained and worked with her Pokemon for so long that they almost always understand what she wants them to do. She’s left two of her Pokemon in the PC box for now, in case she spots one she wants to catch. She always likes to leave on spot on her team empty, just in case.
Completed the Sinnoh Gym Circuit, though didn’t enter the tournament or challenge the Elite Four.
Has three badges from Hoenn.
